For flat-top-grill functionality, replace one or both of the porcelain-enameled, cast-iron cooking grates with the griddle accessory. To use it as a traditional grill, fire it up and wait for the grill to reach temperatures around 600☏, creating gorgeous sear-marked steaks and perfectly roasted vegetables. One of our favorite features of the Lumin is how Weber designed it with versatility in mind. The Weber Lumin comes with a set of steaming/smoking pans, and works with an array of other accessories for expanded versatility. What we like The Lumin Electric Grill Features built-in versatility On the smaller, 180-square-inch grill, that capacity reduces to about six burgers. We estimated the Lumin’s 242-square-inch grilling space could fit eight burgers (maybe ten if you were strategic with your space). The only major difference between the two grills is the size. We have some concerns about exposing the electrical components to the outdoor elements. While Weber says the grill is designed to be safely used for outdoor grilling, rain or shine, we recommend storing it under a grill cover, just in case. You can store that unit (and most other accessories) inside the grill when not in use, making this a compact package. The temperature control element sticks out of the side when in use, but it’s also easy to remove. We found it fit easily on a shelf in the garage or underneath most outdoor cooking tables. This Weber electric grill is compact enough to store inside or outside. When you’re finished grilling, simply turn the dial to “off” and unplug the unit. You can cycle through five temperature settings, each of which settles in with a satisfying click as you turn the dial: Low/Food Warming, medium, smoke, steam, and high. Using the Lumin was as easy as plugging it in and twisting the temperature knob to the appropriate setting. The easy-to-use control element attaches to the side of the Weber Lumin and detaches for easy storage. As the curvy electric element heats up, it transfers heat to the grill grates - just like it would if this was a charcoal or gas-powered flame. Electric grills utilize an element located below the grill grates, similar to the one you’d find in an indoor electric oven.
